Dorothy Gale of Kansas, like so many girls her age, dreams frequently of what lies...Over The Rainbow.

This summer, let OBSP carry you away with Dorothy, down the Yellow Brick Road, to meet the Wizard of Oz! One of the most famous and classic stories to hit both the silver screen and stage, The Wizard of Oz is a delight for all ages.

Originally written by L. Frank Baum, this fantastic tale follows the adventures of the beloved Dorothy of Kansas. One day, when a twister hits her farm and she gets swept away, Dorothy and her adorable dog Toto indeed end up in the place she has always dreamed of - over the rainbow. Here, in picturesque Munchkinland; home of fascinating people, the Munchkins, Dorothy is amazed and bewildered. In this famous land of Oz, Dorothy meets the beautiful and enchanting Sorceress of the North.

The Munchkins celebrate Dorothy as a heroine, because in landing, her house has accidentally killed the Wicked Witch of the East, who had long tormented the Munchkins. Dorothy wants to return to Kansas, fearing her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry will worry about her. The Sorceress advises Dorothy that only the great Wizard of Oz can help her get back to Kansas. But Dorothy has an enemy, the Wicked Witch of the West, sister of the dead Wicked Witch of the East, who vows revenge. The witch is frightened away on her first encounter with Dorothy due to the Sorceress' help. The Sorceress of the North tells Dorothy to follow the Yellow Brick Road as it will lead her to the beautiful Emerald City where the Great Oz lives.

Along the way, Dorothy meets a talking Scarecrow, who tells her that he is desperately in need of a brain, a rusted Tin Man who was built without a heart, and a Lion who is not ferocious at all, but actually lacks courage. The three lovable creatures decide to join Dorothy on her trip to see the Great Oz, hoping that the mysterious Wizard will help them as well. All four become inseparable friends as they endure the perilous journey down the Yellow Brick Road.

When Dorothy and her cohorts finally meet the Wizard, he is forceful and looks like a terrifying beast. He demands that they kill the Wicked Witch of the West before he will grant them their wishes. Making their way through a haunted forest, the four travelers go to the Witch's castle. Along the way, the Witch eavesdrops on their conversation and learns of their plans to kill her. Dorothy is separated from her friends and brought to the castle alone. The three remaining friends courageously go on with their plans and ultimately triumph over the Witch, taking her broomstick as proof of her demise.

Back at the Emerald City the Wizard Of Oz throws a party in honor of the four friends. When they finally meet the Great Oz, the four discover he is an ordinary man, not a great beast or a powerful Wizard. Nevertheless, the Wizard of Oz is able to grant everyone's wishes. He gives the Lion a medal to represent courage, the Tin Man a heart-shaped watch to show his kind-heartedness, and the Scarecrow a diploma, certifying him as a Doctor of Think-ology due to his incredibly advanced brain. The Great Wizard of Oz escorts Dorothy back to Kansas in his rocket ship.

This enduring classic is sure to be a fabulous summer treat for the young, and young at heart! With a full, live orchestra, and a dazzling cast, follow us down the Yellow Brick Road to...The Wizard of Oz
